Pavement Whispers: Miss Moneypenny’s, beach bars and new wholefood hangs

From whispers of Noosa icons to brand-new beach bars, The Weekend Edition Gold Coast is always on the search for the latest news on the Gold Coast, dedicated to ensuring its readers are in the know. When we put our ears to the pavement this week, this is what we found out …

Miss Moneypenny’s
Renowned Noosa restaurant and bar Miss Moneypenny’s is making a spectacular leap south to the Gold Coast, with a second venue of the same name to open in Broadbeach in early 2018. The owner of the Hastings Street icon, Windermere Hospitality, headed by Ben Walsh, has landed the rights to a soon-to-be-built 1800-sqm retail space beneath the 219-key Avani apartment project on Surf Parade in Broadbeach (the former Beach Hotel site). The Gold Coast version of Miss Moneypenny’s will take up around 750sqm of the new site, featuring a 200-seat restaurant and bar across indoor and outdoor areas. Miss Moneypenny’s new Broadbeach venue will feature an additional private dining and function room with the capacity to cater for a further 140 guests, and the kitchen will also cater for and service the Avani pool area. Miss Moneypenny’s due to open in March 2018 – watch this space.

Fat Freddy’s Beach Bar + Diner
Miss Moneypenny’s isn’t the only new addition to Windermere Hospitality’s new mini precinct beneath the new Avani tower. The group will also be creating a new American-stye sports pub called Fat Freddy’s Beach Bar + Diner, which will sit next door to Miss Moneypenny’s in the new Broadbeach hub. The 145-seat sports lounge, which is a new concept for the group, will be adjoined by a luxury gaming lounge, accessed via a separate entrance. Fat Freddy’s is due to open in March 2018. Keep your eyes peeled – we’ll have all the info for you in the new year.

Stable Coffee + Kitchen
Southerners, there’s a new eatery and coffee hang coming your way. Stable Coffee + Kitchen is one of eleven tenancies that will form part of Cornerstone Stores (a new Currumbin retail development), which is due to open in January 2018. The exciting new 70-seat eatery will offer a wholefood-style breakfast and lunch menu, featuring share plates and vibrant salads. Melbourne’s Seven Seeds coffee will be pumping, plus there will be a small rotating wine list and Balter beer on tap. We’ll have all the details on Stable Coffee + Kitchen and Cornerstone Stores as a whole when the precinct opens in the new year.

Quince
Cheese lovers, take a deep breath – the Gold Coast is getting a boutique fromagerie and wine cellar! Quince is another newly announced tenant that will open in the Cornerstone Stores in Currumbin in January. Based on European-style delicatessens, Quince will feature a walk-in cheese room (no, we’re not joking) plus a spread of deli items like an array of delicious cured meats and an endless selection of olives. There’s more – Quince will also feature a boutique wine and liqueur cellar. This one-stop picnic shop is everything. We can’t wait to reveal all the details when it opens – keep your eyes peeled.
