Joining Coomera and Broadbeach locations, the brand-new Robina edition of The Bavarian spans a mammoth 340 seats, taking the spaces left by adjoining restaurants Jimmy Grants and Lucky Luciano’s at the ground-level entrance to The Kitchens. Its doors are set to open at 11:00 am on Wednesday August 28, kicking off the much-anticipating distribution of 500 free (yes, free!) hotdogs, while also unveiling its impressive new indoor-outdoor space to diners for the first time. The venue is adorned with alpine-timber finishes, communal seating and beer-barrel tables, while cascading greenery and festoon lights bring the alfresco area to life. You can expect to get a true taste of Bavarian hospitality, while filling up on the crowd-pleasing menu of traditional dishes (from pretzels to pork knuckle), giant feasting platters and litres upon litres of beer.
Start with smaller bites like panko-crumbed Alpenhainer camembert cheese with pickled beetroot or a house-made pretzel with sweet mustard, before moving onto the main event – schnitzels, classic German sausages (like frankfurter, kransky and kielbasa) and moreish mains including crispy pork knuckle with creamy mash, sauerkraut and apple compote, and the crackling pork belly with red cabbage and onion-bier jus. Can’t decide? Go for the multi-person platters loaded with all of the ‘haus favourites’ for the ultimate feasting experience. As for the beers, there are around 20 taps pouring imported German brews and Australian craft varieties (best enjoyed by the litre), as well as ‘beers with a twist’ like Bavarian Diesel (dark lager with cola) and Lemon Weissbier (German bier with a splash limonata).
