Blooms and bites – experience fusion fare and floristry at J’s Brunchette in Mermaid Beach

When it comes to brunch, there tends to be two kinds of folks – those who love it, and those who are wrong. While it's true that we're partial to the odd mid-morning munch, Mermaid Beach's new eatery J's Brunchette isn't just for brunchers. In actual fact, the new floral-adorned cafe nook caters for early-morning caffeine seekers right through to loaded lunches. Here's everything you need to know ...

Whether you’ve got a hankering for a little something sweet or those pesky pangs have hit hard and you’re in need of something hearty, J’s Brunchette is a beautiful new addition to Mermaid Beach. Nestled at the base of the Montego Mermaid Beach Motel, this newly opened gem is poised to become your go-to spot for breakfast, brunch and lunch. J’s Brunchette is the brainchild of Jasmine Chen and her business partner, chef Ming. With Ming’s 18 years of culinary expertise, including a decade-long stint as a pastry chef in Hong Kong, and Jasmine’s keen eye for aesthetics, J’s Brunchette is as delicious as it is beautiful, complete with a striking floral arbour and classic French-bistro seating. There’s also a charming florist nook stocked with fresh blooms for some post-bite beauty to take home.

The breakfast menu, served from 6:30–11:00 am, is where you will spot J’s signature dish – a tantalising baked egg shakshuka loaded with chorizo. But that’s just the beginning. Dive into the trio of eggs Benedict, featuring toppings including pulled pork, buttermilk fried chicken and crispy bacon. For those craving something a little lighter, yet equally satisfying, the crisp corn and zucchini fritters adorned with beetroot hummus, smashed avocado and poached egg is an early stand-out. As the day drifts on, J’s Brunchette seamlessly transitions into lunch service, offering a diverse selection that ranges from brioche burgers to yuzu soba noodles with salmon alongside tiger prawn squid-ink pasta. And let’s not forget the libations. Whether you’re in the mood for a robust cup of Seven Miles Bear and Beard coffee or a more whimsical sip like the strawberry Jasmine tea, matcha or the delightfully decadent tiramisu latte topped with mascarpone, J’s Brunchette has you covered.

J’s Brunchette is now open! Head to our Stumble Guide for opening times.
