The ultimate beer haven – microbrewery, bar and restaurant The Lucky Squire opens in Broadbeach

Beer swillers and hop heads, the time has finally come – the Gold Coast's first-ever James Squire brewhouse, The Lucky Squire, officially opens its doors today (Tuesday June 16). Not only is its arrival a very welcome post-pandemic boost for the city, it's one of the largest new venues to open on the coast for quite some time, with the mammoth two-level microbrewery, bar and restaurant boasting a capacity (once restrictions are fully lifted and normality returns) of around 450 beer sippers and diners.

The Lucky Squire is the latest addition to Broadbeach’s Oracle Boulevard precinct, cutting a striking figure that wraps around the entire western corner of the dining hub. On the ground level, the commanding 14-metre-long bar catches the eye of discerning beer lovers – it’s lined with custom-built copper-trimmed beer taps pouring the entire James Squire range from pale ales and porters to lagers, ginger beer and ciders. On the second level lies a smaller bar and seating area, offering prime viewing of the fully functioning glass-encased microbrewery where the expert beer wizards are at work. Up here, the brewing team experiments with different styles, hops and malts to create small batches of limited-edition beers that are exclusive to The Lucky Squire, which you’ll see rotating regularly across the venue’s taps.

The brewhouse also serves up a hearty menu of refined pub-style eats, with each dish designed to complement the James Squire core range using local produce sourced from owner Mantle Group’s own farms in Pullenvale and Terranora. The Lucky Squire menu is loaded with beer-friendly bites like cheesy garlic bread and woodfired lamb skewers with organic yoghurt and sumac to start, as well as hand-held eats like towering burgers (double cheeseburger, fried chicken and broad-bean falafel) and a range of classic pizzas. Hanging for a juicy steak? Choose from a range of premium cuts before the chefs woodfire them to your liking, or tuck into classics like beer-battered fish and chips, or the parmesan-crusted pork cutlets with fennel slaw and buttermilk dressing.

Ready for beer, beer and more beer? The Lucky Squire is now open! Scoot to the Stumble Guide for details like opening hours and booking information.
