Stable Coffee and Kitchen opens in Currumbin

Nestled amongst lush greenery just a stone's throw from Currumbin beachfront, we're willing to go out on a limb to say Stable Coffee and Kitchen is going to be the next 'it' place for morning munchies and caffeinated catch-ups. The gorgeous venue is the key tenant for Currumbin's new Cornerstone Stores precinct and once you get a glimpse of the goods, it's not hard to see why.

Guaranteed to be the backdrop for plenty of Insta-stories, Stable’s fit-out really is next level. Artwork by local lad Claudio Kirac adorns the far wall whilst gigantic sliding windows framed by matte-black tracking blur the boundaries between inside and out. Taking pride of place is a pretty pastel-pink stone table that is perfectly juxtaposed against the industrial-esque concrete counter and matte-black coffee machine. Outside, a large open expanse of grass bordered by natural bushland provides the perfect zone for the kids to run around and release some energy whilst you sip a coffee and contemplate what to order.

Stable Coffee and Kitchen features a predominantly plant-based menu with everything (except for the bread and chips) made onsite from scratch. For breakfast, people have been loving the unexpected raw tuna and quinoa as well as buckwheat crepes and potato hash, however it’s the lunchtime offering that really has the line out the door. Whilst salads aren’t normally something to write about, Stable’s are not your regular garden variety. Designed to highlight seasonal local produce, Stable offers up to six varietals that change daily and range from kale and cabbage slaw with passionfruit to cauliflower, turmeric, orange, yoghurt and mint. You can choose three and enjoy as is or add some sides such as favabean and chickpea falafel, organic chicken thigh skewer or raw marinated tuna. If you’re still not feelin’ the salad vibe, there are a couple of burgers that are guaranteed to fill the void. As for the drinkables, Stable serves Melbourne’s Seven Seeds speciality coffee, smoothies and Madame Dry’s crystal-infused rose and lavender water but they also happen to be licensed so if you fancy an Ink Gin and tonic with lunch, that’s totally fine (encouraged even).
