Pavement Whisper: Gold Coast icon Peter’s Fish Market is set for a significant upgrade

Peter's Fish Market on Seaworld Drive in Main Beach has been a stalwart on the northern Gold Coast since 1992. The epitome of 'if you know, you know' for Gold Coast locals, the venue has been etched in the weekly fish and chip rituals for families and visitors for generations. Now, after almost 30 years, the family-run business is set to embark upon a major upgrade that will deliver an even better dining experience. Here's what we know so far ...

There are a few quintessentially Gold Coast experiences and spending a sun-drenched afternoon enjoying fish and chips from Peter’s Fish Market on the banks of the Broadwater is undoubtedly one of them. Prompted by the ongoing revitalisation of The Spit and the entire Marina Mirage precinct, the makeover will see the Peter’s family legacy continue well into the future, securing plans for a bigger and better venue. The new-look Peter’s will feature more space, more parking and more shaded outdoor seating – all with a modern marketplace aesthetic.

While the premises may be getting a fancy makeover, Peter’s Fish Market will continue to be a family operated venue. Andrew Peters will be overseeing the new build, pivoting from his prior 16 years in the building industry, and will be the future face of Peter’s Fish Markets, keeping it all in the family. The new-look Peter’s Fish Market is anticipated to be unveiled in time for Christmas 2025, but don’t worry, you won’t have to wait that long for your seafood fix as as the venue will continue to trade throughout the construction phase.
