Buttery croissants, delicate macarons in all of the colours of the rainbow, too-pretty-to-eat petit fours, indulgent croque monsieur, freshly baked baguettes and crunchy French batards – if that line-up of Parisian perfection has your mouth watering, then you'll want to get your sweet self acquainted with the coast's newest patisserie and boulangerie, Le Bon Choix.

After carving out its name in Brisbane with seven sugar-filled locations, Le Bon Choix is now giving the Gold Coast a taste of its goodness, recently opening its largest venue (and first outside of Brisbane) at Pacific Fair Shopping Centre. Situated near the David Jones entrance (opposite Chanel), Le Bon Choix lures in passersby with its picture-perfect cabinets delicately arranged with rows upon rows of colourful cakes, decadent pastries, sugar-dusted filled doughnuts, take-home loaves of bread, fresh sandwiches and a whole lot of French charm.

You’ll be greeted with a heartfelt ‘bonjour’ as you work your way along the eye-popping displays, making important decisions like whether you should pair your coffee with an individual cake (best not to share) like a mango-mousse-filled Bamboleo, a sour-cherry Danish, a cream-filled eclair, or perhaps a mixed six pack of Le Bon Choix’s famed melt-in-your-mouth macarons. If it’s savoury nibbles that make your heart sing, you can choose from a selection of French-style baguettes and ciabatta sandwiches, quiches, ham-and-cheese croissants and indulgent croque monsieurs, which line the cabinet daily. Oh, and a handy tip – if you’re chasing a whole cake for a special occasion (or just because), there’s always a series of larger cakes on display that are ready to take home, or you can order custom cakes ahead of time.

Le Bon Choix is open for dine-in and takeaway – while it’s a sizeable space with plenty of seating and booths, social-distancing measures are in place, so take note that dine-in capacity is currently limited.
