New laneway bar The Hidden Cherub opens in the backstreets of Miami

The precinct surrounding Miami's Lemana Lane, which is home to the likes of Granddad Jack's, Paddock Bakery, Black Hops and Hotel Miami, can now add a new laneway bar to its mix of residents. Warehouse-style watering hole The Hidden Cherub, which is hiding directly behind Heartfill Store, officially opened its doors last weekend.

Armed with cocktails, beers and Californian-inspired bar eats, the new hidden sipping spot will only open Fridays, Saturday and Sundays, trading from midday to late each day. A six-metre concrete bar forms the centrepiece of The Hidden Cherub, surrounded by black-and-white striped booths, high tables and hanging greenery, creating a casual atmosphere for locals to stroll in for a burger and a pale ale, or kick back with share plates and margaritas after dark. The bar is equipped with local craft beer on tap and in the fridge, a tight list of wines and a fun collection of cocktails.

Plot twist – the food menu is entirely plant based! You’ll be tucking into smaller snacks like seasoned charred corn, crispy mac’n’cheese balls and stuffed jalapeno poppers, as well as pulled ‘beef’ burritos and tacos with fillings like tempura avocado with spiced rice and house pickles. There’s also a series of plant-based burgers on offer, including fried ‘chicken’ varieties, cheeseburgers, and a towering ‘beef’ burger with cheese, pineapple, tomato and onion jam atop a plant-based brioche bun. There’s also a takeaway window down the side of the laneway for those chasing a burg’ on the go.
