The team behind Mo’s Desert Clubhouse are a creative brunch, so when they received feedback from patrons that they were struggling to make friends in a social setting as adults, they quickly sprung into action. The solution? Not one, but two social event series that hope to bring some joy to the local community and help connect like-minded people. It kicks off with The Thursday Social, a weekly event at Mo’s cocktail bar and beer garden El Ranchero. Four different themes will rotate each month, the first being Art Night, where guests can get creative with paint, ceramics and other artistic methods. The second Thursday will be Games Night, where you can have fun playing chilli tequila roulette, unlimited board games, spin the wheel to win and table tennis. The third Thursday is Language Swap, where you can practise your Duolingo skills with Spanish, Portuguese and English speakers and dance the night away to Latin music. The fourth Thursday of the month is Black Magic Women, where mystical folk are invited to come for readings from psychics and tarot card readers. Each week will boast different food and drink specials, with sangria always flowing, and a Jag The Joker giveaway with a $5000-plus major prize to be won.
The antics get levelled up on the weekend with The Sunday Service for Saints and Sinners. The weekly event will feature open DJ decks framed as Sunday service hymns, incorporating sermons in the shape of live bands, $10 bloody Marias and $10 grilled cheesus for communion. There will even be a confessional box where you can receive absolution for your naughty deeds, with the best confession each week winning a $50 venue voucher. This holy Sunday sesh kicks off on Sunday October 22 with a VIP launch party. The blessed bash will gift event-goers free bloody Marys and tequila shots, while angelic DJ tunes fill the air. Be quick to register, as limited spots are available for this VIP event.
