One step inside Willy’s Warehouse and you’ll quickly realise this isn’t an ordinary coffee shop. It’s not just a speciality coffee destination either (though Willy’s Beans is in plentiful supply) – it’s a place where you can taste both the history and artistry behind every sip of your coffee. The space itself highlights the journey of the coffee, with a huge mural that tells the story of the company greeting coffee seekers upon entry. Your nose will then alert you to the espresso bar, where some (but not all) of the magic happens. You can get your usual flat white or cappuccino order, which is made using Willy’s speciality single-estate beans, that are roasted onsite and flow through the La Marzocco coffee machine. Those feeling experimental can go all out and try something from the speciality menu, which includes a $36 cup of coffee (yes, you read that right). Upstairs is Willy’s Lab, where cupping sessions and tours will take place. Back downstairs, your eyes will be drawn to the star and namesake of the venue – Willy’s Jeep. This bright-red vehicle is an iconic symbol of Colombian coffee culture, going back to the early 20th century, when the Colombian government began importing Willys Jeeps from the United States to help with the coffee harvest. Willy’s Warehouse boasts its own Willy’s Jeep, which has been transported from the streets of Colombia to the Gold Coast.
