Nan’s Coffee is the first cafe venture for co-owners Hannah Chan and Jamiti Jamir, a pair of Gold Coast locals that wanted to make their mark on the hospitality scene. The dog-friendly cafe is suitably Broadbeach, with framed art depicting Gold Coast beaches lining the white wall, rattan chairs scattered around white tables inside and out and lush indoor plants adding a touch of greenery to the space. Paradox Coffee Roasters’ Penny Lane blend is what runs through Nan’s La Marzocco coffee machine and boy, does it make a damn-fine cup of coffee. You can marry your brew of choice with something off the menu, with the cafe boasting a seriously drool-worthy array of sandwiches. All served on Turkish bread, the sandwiches include The Ham One (sliced ham baked and glazed in house, cheese, rocket, avocado and tomato relish), The Chicken One (melt-in-your-mouth chicken, tomato, cheese and pesto), The Beef One (roast beef, cheese, rocket and onion jam) and The Vegan One (sauteed mushrooms, cheese, rocket and pesto). Toasties, croissants, pies and sausage rolls are also available, while acai bowls, overnight oats and a range of refreshing smoothies and juices are sure to sate those with a hankering for something sweet. But, it’s what lies atop of the cabinet that’s sure to catch your eye. Hannah makes chunky New York-style cookies fresh in house, which come in several different flavours.
