Look, we get it. You’ve just rearranged your kitchen pantry for the 37th time. You can confidently recite every single line from all episodes of Bluey. You’ve now resorted to strategically hiding the household snacks from your kids because you want them to last more than 2.3 seconds. Luckily, City of Gold Coast gets it too. Its Active & Healthy concept, which is normally a calendar chock-full of events and activities across all corners of the coast, has been repurposed for the times. The program is now packaged up into a straight-forward online PDF that outlines things to do, broken down day by day.
You can access Active & Healthy @ Home here – that link will be updated regularly with a whole bunch of new and different ways to keep kids active and off screens. Think activities like outdoor obstacle challenges, ninja training, healthy cooking, sports and agility training, craft, disco parties (fun!), netball and football drills and so much more. The program utilises Gold Coast businesses (like Terrain Training, Get Raw Bootcamps and Art for Kids) and links through to their respective YouTube channels or websites so you can easily access a how-to tutorial for the daily activity. With the next schooling term still pretty uncertain, keeping kids in a positive daily routine is paramount for their physical and mental wellbeing – so having programs like this at your fingertips can make that task a little bit easier for you. Have fun!
