Wishbone Spirits was a natural progression for the Fonzie Abbott crew, who appear to be deeply committed to ensuring that local thirsts are quenched and palates are charmed at any time of the day or night. The master brewers/roasters/distillers have recently added to their liquid offerings by launching their very own 40% ABV Wishbone Spirits gin and vodka – both of which were awarded silver medals at the 2019 Tasting Australia Spirit Awards. Wishbone Gin is double distilled and unfiltered, boasting a fresh, balanced flavour derived from orange, grapefruit and kaffir lime juices, as well as juniper, coriander seed, cardamom and cassia bark, while Wishbone Vodka is gently warming and full flavoured with almost no aroma and a finish that delivers rich complexity.
After starting out life as a specialty coffee roaster in 2011, Fonzie Abbott opened a string of cafes across Brisbane before flinging open the doors to its Albion roastery and cafe in 2015 and a brewery and taphouse next door in 2018. Now the brewery has evolved to include a distillery, where Wishbone Spirits gin and vodka is lovingly crafted before being distributed to bars across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. These two new creations round out the Fonzie Abbott catalogue nicely, and can be sampled alongside its own range of beers at the flagship headquarters next time you’re in Brisbane.
