Oyster platters and prawn trawlers – feast on the freshest seafood at Sanctuary Cove

There are so many benefits to living on the Gold Coast, but one big win for us is that we have easy access to some of the freshest seafood in the country. The mouth-watering seafood on offer here is only matched by the insatiable views. For those who want to enjoy both, Sanctuary Cove has an ocean of signature restaurants right on the marina. Dive in below to explore our fishy favourites.

A classic on any menu, you can’t go past the good ol’ beer battered fish and chips. Sanctuary Cove Tavern is a cracker spot to devour this delicious dish, served with a tangy tartare sauce, salad, and a lemon wedge. Wash it down with locally brewed beer on tap or a fine wine from the extensive drinks menu.

When you desire a Greek feast, walk the red and blue carpet into George’s Paragon and feel like a Greek god and goddess when you order the seafood platter for two. Say hello to fresh king prawns, smoked salmon, mixed oysters, barbecued bugs and prawns, garlic prawns, battered prawns, fish, calamari, lobster mornay, and fresh fruit. Even Zeus will be jealous.

You can always rely on modern Australian cuisine to dish up the best of the sea. In particular, Red Steakhouse celebrates the humble oyster every Wednesday night from 5:30 pm. Indulge in an 18-oyster platter for two, bursting with different flavour combinations. Savour the fresh oysters while you sip on bottomless Italian sparkling wine to keep the good vibes flowing.

If Italian food is the love of your life, be sure to book a table at Ioesco Cucina. Here you will be transported to the picturesque Italian coast while indulging in a seasonal menu with contemporary interpretations of Napoli cuisine. Taste the sea with a gamberi pizza topped with tiger prawns, cherry tomatoes and feta, or dive in for a spicy spaghetti alle vongole with clams.

Swap Amalfi for Baja and bite into Mexican flavours and specialty margaritas from Pablito’s Mexican Restaurant and Tequileria. Tuck into a tempura-prawn taco with mango mayo, a soft shell crab taco with roasted garlic butter, or a freshly caught fish-of-the-day taco with corn salsa. Can’t decide? Try a taco board to share and savour all the flavours of the sea.

Looking for a mouth-watering lunch spot where the sea breeze flows through? Look no further than the relaxed local favourite, Bistro 19. Here you can order a crispy calamari salad with lightly spiced golden calamari served with garden greens, shaved parmesan, tomato and spicy sriracha mayo. Bring along your fur baby as Bistro 19 is pet-friendly too.

Those wanting to spice up their seafood night can drop in at crowd favourite Chim Thai Cove. The menu is jam-packed with flavoursome fishy dishes such as the creamy chilli and basil seafood stir fry (yum!) and a signature crab curry featuring crab meat, soft shell crab and betel leaves in a yellow gravy. If you’re in the mood for something fancy, be sure to try the mixed dumplings served with caviar.

If you like seafood straight from the ocean, you can’t get any fresher than the Sanctuary Cove Prawn Trawler. Direct from the boat into your bag, it’s whatever the fishers catch that day, and believe us you won’t be disappointed. Prawns, bugs, squid and octopus, the selection will have you salivating. Docking Friday to Sunday at Sanctuary Cove, you’ll want to arrive early to score the best seafood for a weekend feast.

Whether you’re a fishy fan or a lobster lover, Sanctuary Cove’s signature restaurants will fix those seafood cravings.
