Liquid Death debuts in Australia, promising to straight up “murder your thirst”

Catching a glimpse of one of Liquid Death’s cans from the corner of your eye while browsing, you’d be forgiven for thinking the rad tallboys contained some kind of trendy alcoholic beverage or perhaps one of those energy drinks with near-fatal caffeine content. Instead you’ll find inside clear spring waters, possibly gently sparking and lightly sweetened with agave nectar. Upon this bait-and-switch Liquid Death has built its brand to incredible heights of popularity. And now, it's available Down Under.

One of the fastest growing non-alcoholic beverage brands, American-based Liquid Death was founded in 2017 by Mike Cessario. His goal was to to push back against the status quo – where fun marketing is reserved for products like beer, energy drinks and junk food, while more healthy options must wallow in the graphic design wastelands of pastels and minimalism with some light imagery of the natural world.

Liquid Death flips the script, taking the healthiest drink there is (water), packaging it with cool punk and metal-inspired aesthetics and promoting it with a heaping helping of humour. The brand invites internet notoriety too, with antics such as collaborating with e.l.f. on a Corpse Paint make-up kit or infusing a skateboard with Tony Hawk’s (actual) blood.

In addition to the tagline “murder your thirst”, the brand also proclaims “death to plastic”. As opposed to your conventional plastic water bottle, which can too often end up in landfill or polluting the ocean, Liquid Death says that its aluminium tallboy cans are “infinitely recyclable”. Plus, a portion of the proceeds go to non-profits fighting plastic pollution and providing clean drinking water to those in need.

Sourced from the Austrian Alps, Liquid Death’s water contains natural electrolytes to slay your thirst. Its sparkling variations are finetuned to have the same carbonation level as beer, providing a softer, luxurious bubble in your mouth, and its flavoured varieties are lightly sweetened with agave nectar for an extra punch of flavour.

Liquid Death is now available at 7-Eleven stores across Australia in a range of killer flavours including Liquid Death Still Water, Liquid Death Sparkling Water, Liquid Death Severed Lime Sparkling Water and Liquid Death Mango Chainsaw Sparkling Water.
