Kirra Beach House is set to launch an elevated dining experience called The Restaurant

Almost four years in the making, the eagerly anticipated Kirra Beach House opened its doors in early December, much to the delight of enthusiastic locals. The beautiful beach-fronting venue quickly became the perch for long lunches, sundowners and events. Now, as the summer officially draws to a close and holiday crowds have dispersed, the iconic venue has launched a brand-new offering called The Restaurant, which will open to the public on Thursday March 7. Here's what we know so far ...

Joining Preston’s, the glorious sun-drenched cabanas and The Terrace will be a new elevated dining experience called The Restaurant at Kirra Beach House. For those who aren’t familiar, sprawling 1200-sqm, the enormous venue is sectioned into different areas to cater to different whims and moods. Preston’s, for example, is the perfect spot for a wine moment, while those in search of a light bite and some sunshine can plant themselves on The Terrace and while away the afternoon with a cocktail in hand. Now, guests will have the option of booking at The Restaurant, which includes tables inside Kirra Beach House as well as outside on the Western Terrace. The beauty of The Restaurant is that you can enjoy full table service so you don’t need to waste time lining up at the bar. “We wanted to open Kirra Beach House with our offering and see what the feedback was. They are loving our bars, seaside menu, cabanas and our brand-new Sunday Beach Club, however the locals were asking for a more elevated dining experience complete with full table service,” says Dave Galvin, owner of Kirra Beach House.

To celebrate the launch of The Restaurant, there’s a new Mediterranean seaside menu and cocktail list that has been divided into three clear sections including shared, bowls and large dishes for a progressive dining experience. Shared dishes include market-fresh oysters with mignonette, barbecue corn cobs, gnocco fritto with capocollo and truffled goats curd, snapper croquettes with leek, the famous tempura Kirra bug roll, burrata and crispy cured cauliflower. The bowls are designed for the health conscious and can be jazzed up with your choice of add-ons such as avocado, haloumi, chicken, prawns and beef rump. As for large dishes, diners can enjoy fresh market fish with cherry tomatoes, fried-fish burger, half roast chicken with sweetcorn gremolata and watercress, and a rigatoni with cavolo nero pesto, stracciatella, pine nuts and pangrattato. The hero, we’re told, is the slow-cooked lamb shoulder with Tuscan cabbage, whole-grain mustard jus and fresh grated horseradish.

Thirsty? You’re in for a treat with the cocktail selection also curated into three different categories. Day Break, which features light and fizzy sips such as Nonna’s limoncello, melon shakerato, Kirra party spritz and The Bahamas Champagne pina colada. Next is Twilight, which delves a little deeper in boldness and flavour, think rosa spritz, Beach House negroni and double apple sour. Rounding out the selection is Starlight, a clutch of richer, neat-style concoctions such as the Kirra Beach Old Fashioned.

The Restaurant at Kirra Beach House opens Thursday March 7. Head to our Stumble Guide for opening times.

The Stumble Guide is our comprehensive Gold Coast dining guide with more than 870 places to eat, drink, shop and play.
