Antipasto and pinot – Bottega Chevron Village is bringing casual fine dining Italian to the coast

As the temperature begins to drop, our cravings for pizza, pasta, and moreish mains tend to skyrocket – a coincidence? We think not. If you too find yourself searching for soul-warming comfort food, you might be pleased to know that Chevron Island has welcomed Bottega Chevron Village to its culinary melting pot. The former Tribeca NYC space has been reimagined to deliver an elevated take on humble Italian cuisine. Here's what you can expect from this small-but-mighty newcomer ...

Bottega Chevron Village is the latest venture from chef and owner Enzo Loterzo, who was previously responsible for one of Melbourne’s most-loved (and much missed) Italian dining institutions – Della Nonna in Hawthorn – as well as Chevron’s popular The LeanChef Kitchn (so lean it dropped the ‘e’), which has won over the local populace with its wholesome daytime bites. This time, Enzo has dug deep into his 30-plus year career working with some seriously impressive names in the hospitality industry, including Bill Marchetti and Simon Humble, to deliver a casual fine dining concept that raises the bar a notch (or ten) from the norm. Bottega Chevron Village is Enzo’s chance to flex his culinary muscles and his reputation for being an ‘artist of food’ in the most delicious way possible.Take a seat and be whisked away to southern Italy with a selection of Assaggini ranging from freshly shucked oysters, crisp arancini, and burrata with chargrilled sourdough. Primi Piatti, or first dishes, include Vitello Tonnato (fine slices of poached veal with tuna mayonnaise and fried capers) and Gnocchi Latino (house-made gnocchi with slow-cooked veal and pork ragu) alongside a dedicated section for risotto, which, in years past has earned rave reviews from the one and only Matt Preston. Of course, no Italian restaurant would be complete without a selection of pizza and friends, Bottega Chevron Village does not disappoint. Its pizzas are hand-rolled, stretched, topped, and placed lovingly into the smoldering-hot wood-fired oven, which takes pride of place at the entrance filling the air with an irresistible aroma. Hot tip, be sure to leave room for a serve of the tiramisu, you’ll thank us later. As for the drinkables, Bottega Chevron Village offers a selection of wine from Australia and Italy as well as a succinct offering of cocktails and Italian brews including Peroni and Birra Baladin.

If pizza and pinot sound like your kind of vibe, skip over to our Stumble Guide for booking details.
