Immersive arts experience Italian Renaissance Alive by Grande Experiences will transform the HOTA Gallery into a spectacular multi-sensory exhibition from March 29 to August 4, with iconic works like the Sistine Chapel, Mona Lisa, and Birth of Venus to be showcased through a mesmerising digital gallery, accompanied by a spectacular operatic musical score. Taking audiences on a unique journey through the Italian Renaissance era, the major exhibition will showcase digital masterpieces by Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Botticelli, Caravaggio and more.
Ground-breaking dance collective The Farm makes a triumphant return to HOTA’s theatre on March 8–9, taking audiences on an unforgettable ride with Stunt Double, an immersive theatre experience that takes a tongue-in-cheek dive into the the filming of a 1970s Aussie action flick. Direct from New Zealand and coming to HOTA for one night only on Saturday April 6 is Wild Dogs Under My Skirt – a moving and humorous collection of poetry developed into a stage play by Tusiata Avia, which touches on Pacific Island life and the uneasy collisions with New Zealand.
Fans of Elvis and the rock’n’roll era will be swept off their feet when brand-new musical Elvis: A Musical Revolution kicks off its dazzling season at HOTA on Saturday June 22 – it’s the only chance to see this hit bio-musical (and its all-star Australian cast) in Queensland, so you won’t want to miss a beat. On Thursday February 22, a quintet from Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra, will be joined on HOTA’s Outdoor Stage by Grammy-nominated Tibetan singer-songwriter Tenzin Choegyal for a magical intersection of vocals and strings in a not-to-be-missed performance.
Grab your tickets early to make sure you’re front and centre for Queensland Ballet’s limited season of Coppélia, a fun, light-hearted ballet with Australian flair that will take to the stage from November 1–2, 2024. For the uninitiated, the tale of a beautiful, life-like doll and two quarrelling young lovers create comic chaos in this spirited romantic-era ballet, which is set in the sun-drenched South Australian town of Hahndorf in the late 19th century.
