Currumbin Community Markets moves to Coolangatta

It’s a sad day when a long-standing local favourite announces it has to move on, especially one that is as widely adored as the Currumbin Community Markets. Luckily this story has a happy ending, or beginning, with the much-loved market finding a new home in Coolangatta.

The creators of the Currumbin Community Markets, Hannah and Chana, have been working around the clock to secure a new location after their six year stint across from the Currumbin RSL has come to an end.

It’s no small task to move an entire market after years in the same spot. Run by two local Gold Coast mums, they wanted to ensure the new location maintained the friendly and welcoming atmosphere of the Currumbin spot while also looking after the livelihoods of local farmers and producers. With a playground for the kids, skatepark and plenty of shade, the Goodwin Park in Coolangatta presented itself as the perfect spot at the perfect time.

If you’re a regular at the Currumbin Community Markets, you are sure to find the same good vibes that you’ve loved for six years, just a little further south.

If you’re someone who often has plans to wake up early on the weekend to browse your local farmer’s market but never actually makes it, then this community market could be right up your alley.

Held every Thursday from 7:00–11:00 am, the markets give locals the opportunity to buy fresh, seasonal produce direct from local farmers without having to deal with weekend leisure crowds. The focus has always been on creating a true farmer’s market community by only allowing farmers who have a direct link to the produce they sell.

We have no doubt the Coolangatta location will continue to be just that.

The first Coolangatta Community Market at Goodwin Park will be held on March 7.
