Sunland unveils The Lanes – a $200-million lifestyle precinct in Mermaid Waters

If you've been taking guesses as to what's happening with the huge parcel of land that corners the intersection of Bermuda Street and Hooker Boulevard in Mermaid Waters, then here's the low-down. Gold Coast developer Sunland Group has revealed its plans for the site – a 17,000-sqm lifestyle and retail precinct called The Lanes.

The group recently lodged a DA with council for the $200-million lakeside precinct, which is set to feature around 80 new tenancies ranging from cafes, restaurants, a market-style fresh-food hall (inspired by the bustling food markets of Europe), health and wellbeing services, an eight-screen boutique cinema with in-movie dining, a lakeside amphitheatre, specialist retailers, plus around 840 car spaces.

The Lanes’ food markets, boutique retailers and dining venues will be linked by interwoven urban laneways, with the two-level precinct to adjoin 5000 sqm of landscaped waterfront space. The visionary new development forms part of Sunland’s $1.3 billion, 42-hectare master planned community at The Lakes. Construction of The Lanes is expected to commence in early 2018 pending DA approval, with completion earmarked for 2021.
