The Island’s new owner, The Katarzyna Group, which is behind a swag of popular Brisbane venues like Cloudland, Press Club and The Family (due to reopen as EI8HT in June), underwent a massive transformation of the pastel-pink 1960s hotel. After more than 12 months of works, the hotel has reopened, revealing a truly unique boutique hotel offering. The design maintains the rich history of Surfers Paradise, whilst integrating modern elements and refined detail.
The Island’s meticulous transformation saw its 98 rooms given a complete facelift, resulting in cool and functional spaces that put a unique, fresh and fun twist on the concept of ’boutique hotels’. The ‘old meets new’ design ethos has created a welcoming vibe with an appealing sense of simplicity. There are classic, superior and deluxe suites to suit your needs – perfect for the local ‘staycayer’ or instate visitor. The transformation also saw the creation of The Island’s brand new restaurant, bar and rooftop – read more about that here. For more information on The Island’s new-look hotel rooms, head over here.
