Surfers Paradise is set to be transformed with a landmark $800-million development

Ambitious plans for a transformative $800-million residential development in the heart of Surfers Paradise have been submitted to the Gold Coast City Council for approval. The incredible project is being undertaken in a joint-venture between SPG Land and Gordon Corp and, if approved, will deliver one of the largest residential projects ever undertaken on the Gold Coast. Here's what we know so far ...

Surfers Paradise has long been considered the heart of tourism on the Gold Coast, and now a brand-new development is set to revamp an entire block of the beachside suburb. The colossal 1.15-hectare site, bounded by Ferny Avenue, Surfers Paradise Boulevard, Pandanus Avenue and Ocean Avenue, is designed to deliver an urban oasis that will become a beacon for local, interstate and international visitors.

Designed by award-winning architectural firm Rothelowman and landscape firm Form, the development will include three towers comprising 38, 40 and 42 storeys respectively and inject a total of 792 apartments. One of the key cornerstones of the project is a new ground-level retail and dining plaza that is intended to activate the northern end of Surfers Paradise by offering a destination experience with signature retailers and food and beverage operators. The premium residential towers will offer bespoke amenities and be connected by a podium level to create an elevated ‘seaside village’ for residents. The focal point will undoubtedly be its jaw-dropping suspended glass-bottom lap pool with a view to street level 26 storeys below.

The development is expected to be officially launched to the market in the fourth quarter of this year.
