Sweet Bambino may be tiny in stature but it packs a pretty mighty punch when it comes to its brews and bites. Specialising in seriously top-notch coffee and morning meals, the new neighbourhood locale is the handiwork of Sylvia Malec and Adam Salerno, who have worked in and around Melbourne’s hospitality scene for more than 30 years before relocating to the Gold Coast almost two years ago. The pair searched high and low for the perfect place to set up shop when Adam spied a long and narrow clothes shop along Paradise Point’s bustling esplanade and wondered if there was enough room to fit a coffee machine. As it turns out there was and Sweet Bambino officially opened its doors late last week, much to the delight of caffeine-loving locals.
Like all new parents, the pair are hands-on with their brand-new baby with Adam manning the coffee machine at the front and Sylvia working behind the scenes to handmake all of the gorgeous single-serve cakes and baked goods that grace the grab-and-go cabinet. Coffee is a big focus here with Social Espresso’s easy-to-sip Sweet Bambino, Voyager and El Cucho blends flowing through the venue’s matte-black La Marzocco coffee machine. There is also a selection of specialty tea, freshly squeezed juices and smoothies on offer for non-coffee drinkers. Hungry? There’s a handful of streetside seats for those who are keen to check out Sweet Bambino’s tightly curated breakfast menu, which includes a belly-warming hibiscus poached-pear porridge and devilishly decadent blackberry curd French toast. The Spanish eggs and smashed avocado have also emerged as early crowd favourites. If the sun is shining, grab your meal to-go and enjoy in the park across the road.
