Located next to Storm Cycles on Golden Four Drive, Made is a very welcome new addition to the laid-back seaside strip. At one end of the space you’ll find co-owner and barista Josh Blair crafting your coffee hit using specialty blends from Byron Bay’s Moonshine Coffee Roasters – he’s also a carpenter and was the hands behind the concept’s sleek fit-out, which is adorned with hardwood timber and raw concrete. On the other side you’ll find renowned local barber Brit Westcott working the shears, doing everything from quick trims to transformations. When gutting the former dancewear store, the duo were conscious of creating a space where both a barista and barber could not only co-exist comfortably, but also complement one another. From 6:00 am seven days a week, the specialty coffee starts pouring. Then, a little later in the day, the barbershop joins the action, with the scissors snipping and the bean juice pumping out in unison throughout the afternoon.
Those chasing a quality coffee can experience Moonshine’s Moonrunner organic blend in either an espresso, filter or cold brew, joined by alternatives like bullet-proof coffees, lion’s mane supplements, turmeric lattes and cold-pressed HRVST juices. For now, there’s a small cabinet of baked goods (think filled doughnuts and Vegemite croissants) that arrive fresh each morning from Currumbin’s Fuel Bakehouse, though you can expect to see additional eats like toasted sandwiches added to the line-up in the coming weeks. Made is now open for coffee and bites, with the barber available for bookings here as well as walk-ins.
