When some of the world’s best bars can get on board with the idea of a non-alcoholic spirit, you know that it’s well worth a try. Seedlip has been earning rave reviews from some of the world’s award-winning bartenders and chefs, and finally the drink is making its way to Australia. Ben Branson – a botany enthusiast – is the mastermind behind Seedlip, the world’s first non-alcoholic spirit. This fancy alternative is sugar, sweetener and calorie free and is typically served with tonic – adding a bit of distinction to the doldrums of being the designated driver.
Seedlip’s recipes were plucked from a 17th century tome called The Art of Distillation, which was filled with instructions on how to make non-alcoholic herbal recipes in copper stills. From these instructions, Ben formulated two signature flavours using ingredients harvested, cold macerated, distilled and blended to result in Seedlip’s first varieties. Seedlip Garden 108 is a light and refreshing drop that is imbued with six distillates including the likes of hand-picked peas, hay, spearmint, rosemary and thyme, while Seedlip’s Spice 94 is an aromatic mixture made with hints of all spice, cardamom, oak, lemon and grapefruit.
Seedlip will be arriving in Australia come summer time. Keep your eyes peeled for bottles lining shelves at your favourite speakeasy.
