After a decade in its original home along the Gold Coast Highway in Mermaid Beach, Alfred’s Apartment has moved to a brand-new space in between Foster’s Bakery and Okazu Sushi Bar in Nobby Beach. Rather than simply recreate the same, Alfred’s owner Ed Hatcher has taken the opportunity to simplify and expand on the parts of the business that they do well – coffee and the brand’s own clothing line, which is designed by Ed himself. While that meant stepping away from the food side of things (RIP hang-over curing burritos), the upside is that it has freed the team to really focus on expanding the coffee side of the menu. Now, you’ll find a predominantly organic offering using Allpress Espresso beans. The brand-new cold-brew slushie is a definite must-try. Those in need of a little spruce will also be pleased to know the barbershop has been retained and is in the capable hands of Chadd Stafford from Comradery Barbershop.
