Gold Coast Australian World Surfing Reserves are hosting the Save The Waves Film Festival on Saturday July 13 at the Tom Atkin Hall, Tugun from 6.30–10:00 pm. The main feature movie is Place of Thorns the story of Puerto Escondido (Playa Zicatela) the Mexican Pipeline which is under threat produced by Alan Van Gysten & Edwin Morales. The second feature is a doco on Gold Coast World Surfing Reserves by Griffith PHD student Tiago Falcoa titled Panamuna (Ocean for Aboriginal). The film festival includes a shorts movie program from Internationally renowned surf and environmental filmmakers. This is a fundraiser event creating awareness about coastal protection and safeguarding our unique surf breaks. By purchasing a ticket, you go in the draw for raffle prizes including STCY Ohlson Twin Surfboard, ONeil Steam Wetsuits, and more drawn on the night. Tickets at the door or online via Eventbrite.
