You might be surprised that only 25% of chefs are female but only 6% of female chefs make it to the very top when comparing Michelin-starred restaurants.
To support and showcase women in hospitality, Pipit Restaurant in Pottsville NSW is excited to be hosting their 3rd annual Girl Gang dinner on August 5.
This dinner will bring together female chefs and front of house talent from local award-winning restaurants like Pipit, Bar Heather, Karkalla, Beach Byron Bay and Joy. The collaborative female-lead menu will also be complemented with a drinks menu of female winemakers too.
This event is part of the wider Chefs Collab pop-up series which travels around the foodie destination of the Tweed and Byron Bay region. It started in 2021 and each event brings together four young chefs from four venues, with four senior chef mentors to create collaborative four course menus. It continues to support emerging talent and regional hospitality training and development.
Yen Trinh, co-owner of Pipit said: “it’s not that female chefs need female-only kitchens to hold their own – but that role models can help in leadership and equality. Women visible in executive chef roles, management roles and in media can help inspire the next generation of female hospitality talent”
