Blackbird is an architectural slice of paradise that came to life under the creative guidance of husband-and-wife duo James (a second-generation hotelier) and Stella Hudson (an interior designer). The boutique accomodation features self-contained detached pavilions that are luxuriously equipped with king-sized beds draped in Egyptian-cotton linens, reclaimed-timber cabinetry and naked copper fittings, all cocooned by warm, birch-ply panelled walls.
You’ll wake up to unsurpassed east-facing views over the acres of lush green rainforest toward Cape Byron and the Pacific Ocean – and these spectacular views can also be enjoyed from the comfort of the property’s pristine 10-metre magnesium infinity pool. Expect to be green with envy over Blackbird’s distinctive exterior palette and impeccable landscaping, with each of the concrete and steel-clad accomodation pavilions cutting a striking figure against the property’s pristine grounds, which are dotted with native succulents and cacti, pandanus palms and white gravel. Those with an eye for fine detail will have a profound appreciation for every square inch of Blackbird.
