If you enjoy things that are a little unexpected, we’re willing to suggest you might enjoy My Sushi Burrito. The pop-up shares a kitchen with Hachi Japanese Restaurant in Mermaid Beach and is slinging sushi, but not as you know it. Essentially, it’s an oversized roll loaded with flavours and fillings that are traditionally found in burritos – think spiced-beef rib, cherry tomato, black beans, coriander, corn, green oak, cheddar cheese and smothered in sauce (that’s the Mexican Beef one, in case you were wondering). Seafood lovers are spoilt for choice with the house-special Seafood Trick Red sushi burrito, which is bursting with crab salad, salmon and tuna and rolled in actual crushed-up Cheetos (yes, the chip kind) and if you enjoy the freedom of choice, you can build your own burrito by first selecting your base, then your protein, veggies, toppings and sauces.
My Sushi Burrito shares a space with Hachi in Mermaid Beach and is open for lunch on Monday through to Saturday. The rolls are all handmade by Ken using fresh ingredients. Available to dine-in, takeaway or via Uber Eats.
