If you love tacos, tapas and tequila, we have some excellent news – HolyJala has taken over the former Greenhouse Canteen and Bar space in Coolangatta delivering a Mexican-style taqueria with Mediterranean influences. The bright and colourful new venue (pronounced holy-ha-la, as in short for jalapeno) is the handiwork of Andrea Muhlemann, who is excited to share a selection of tapas from her homeland Spain alongside some tasty tacos. Take a seat in the newly created outdoor area for a charcuterie board in the afternoon sun or make your way inside to feast on cheesy chimichangas (yum!) and prawn-topped tostadas. By now, you’ve probably gotten the hint that tequila forms a significant chunk of the drinks list with the view to expand the selection in coming months. For now, diners can sip summery concoctions, wines and beer.
