Destino at Sanctuary Cove is a homewares haven by day and sophisticated cocktail and wine bar by night. The venue is the handiwork of Craig and Lisa Chilvers, who wanted to create a space that combines a little taste of the Greek and Spanish islands with Lisa’s love of homewares and excellent coffee. The gorgeous space has been fit-out by Uniqwa to feature a seriously stunning aesthetic of white breeze blocks and raw timber, whilst a prickly cacti garden that runs the length of the venue provides a pop of greenery. Interestingly, all of the fixtures and furnishings displayed are available to order inside – so go ahead and start mood boarding your dream abode over a cocktail! Destino is more than just a pretty face, the bar slings some seriously impressive sips including its signature, Mykonos Mule (vodka, lemon juice, fresh lime, lemongrass syrup, lemonade and ginger beer). There is an entire section of the drinks list dedicated to margaritas (our kind of vibe), espresso martinis and spritzes. As for the wine list, Destino specialises in drops from far-flung places including Italy, France and Spain as well as some local favourites from Australia and New Zealand. With no kitchen to speak of, the venue is envisaged more as a launch pad for a pre-or-post dinner sip, however there are some small charcuterie selections alongside bread and dips to munch if you’re famished.
