Comfort food from Baja California is dished up daily at California Tacos in Burleigh Heads. Owners Andy and Ty, from Tijuana and San Diego, made the Gold Coast home after travelling around Australia together. They knew the locals would love the traditional food and hospitality they grew up loving and uniquely found in the Baja region of southern California and northern Mexico.
The first day they opened California Tacos in early 2014, they sold out of everything in three hours. Andy, heading up the kitchen, makes fresh tortillas daily, along with their golden corn tortillas which are prefect for gluten-free foodies.
While traditional tacos, nachos, quesadillas and dips are on the menu, try their famous California fries topped with melted cheese, home-style pinto beans, jalapeno aioli, guacamole and salsa fresco, and wash down with a margarita or San Diego sangria.
