With its own in-house butcher, access to farm-fresh produce from the Tweed Valley and two on-site pastry chefs, Bistro16 offers a comforting dining experience that is known by locals as a ‘home away from home’. Grab a drink and settle on the Bistro16 terrace, soak up the views over the lush bowling greens and gaze over the choices on its extensive seasonal menu. You’ll find a variety of dishes from the land and sea, ranging from pastas and pizzas to towering burgers, stir-fries, soul-warming roasts, hearty steaks, vibrant salads and a tasty selection of seafood. You can snack on smaller bites like southern fried chicken wings, a fresh prawn cocktail or Bistro16’s signature nachos, while those that like to keep it light can opt for the South Western Salad topped with crunchy corn chips and ranch dressing, or the colourful BBQ Prawn BLT Salad. Off the grill there’s a series of steaks, lamb and pork-loin cutlets, and if you’re a stickler for the classics you can’t look past the chicken parmigiana with crunchy beer-battered fries, or the finger-licking 12-inch pizzas. Keen for a burger? Go for the rump patty or the southern fried chicken, which are all served simply (as all burgers should be) with lettuce, tomato and cheese atop a milk bun. Diners can also curb their seafood cravings with dishes like beer-battered flathead, grilled salmon or a towering hot seafood platter, all utilising trawler-fresh local catches. Leave some room for a sneaky tiramisu or an apple turnover to finish.
