The Damn Good Store is here to level up your gifting game and do good in the hood

Buying the perfect gift for your friend/mother/other can be a laborious, but also rewarding, endeavour. Get it right and you’ll be earning praise for years to come, but get it wrong and you’ll probably still be hearing about it for years to come – just not quite for the same reasons. If the thought of enduring yet another endless search has you breaking out in a cold sweat, you need The Damn Good Store in your life. The quaint retail space is here to help you level up your gifting game, doing a little good in the process by encouraging small changes that have a big impact.

Housed in the former Greenfolk nook underneath Sunbeau Court apartments in Burleigh Heads (the Greenfolk peeps have moved up the road slightly to a breezy new space next door to Tarte Bakery & Cafe), The Damn Good Store is the handiwork of Burleigh locals Sarah and Jarrad Miller, who are on a mission to encourage shoppers to keep their hard-earned dosh in the local economy rather than funnelling it into multi-national conglomerates. The grand plan is to educate consumers to be more conscious of how they shop by curating a mighty fine collection of wares from local makers and creators (from Byron to Noosa) that will make you want to shop small.Every piece that holds a place in store has a story, which makes a refreshing change from the norm, don’t you think?

The best part (besides feeling chuffed about shopping small) is that there’s something for everyone on your list, so it’s essentially a one-stop shop! Those who fancy a tipple will enjoy a custom gift box featuring tins from Lost Palms, spirits from Brookie’s or punchy pet-nats created by Brisbane’s City Winery using grapes from across Australia’s key growing regions. Parents-to-be will adore the Expecting Mama Gift Box, while gents who sport an excellent ‘stache will be tickled pink with The Beard Styling Pack from Stag Supply. Art-lovers are also spoilt for choice with a beautiful selection of prints to pretty up your walls. Every print that is sold at the store has a direct impact on a community of local artists – how good is that? Damn good.
