Okay, so for Florine (Flo) the journey of creating her own fashion accessories brand is far from traditional. Flo moved to Australia four years ago from The Netherlands, and had been working with big corporates in Sydney as a management consultant. Acting on her idea of making sunglasses chains fashionable, Flo harnessed her creativity and created the ‘cords’ after hours, but as interest grew and orders flowed through, she realised she would need to quit her job to be able to take Sunny Cords to the next level. So, she took a 90-day sabbatical and gave herself that exact timeframe to get Sunny Cords off the ground. Cool, eh?
The cords are designed by Flo and, up until a few months ago, were all hand-crafted by her too – to give it a really good go, she had to outsource the production to keep up with the demand. The materials, beads, charms and cords come from Amsterdam, and there’s a selection of materials like the colourful feathers and tassels that come out of Bali. The collection varies from simple leather unisex straps and golden snake chains, to cords adorned with coloured beads, crystals, charms and bohemian feathers. Flo is currently half way through the 90 days, so, ladies and gents, if you’re digging the Sunny Cords vibe (we totally are) then jump online to check out the range and get your sunnies hooked up. What a rad way to start a business!
