As a general rule, any evening that involves excellent company, wine and beats by Britney – we’re here for it. If that also describes your ideal afternoon, you’re going to love the cut of Paint Juicy’s jib. The space was conceived as a place of inclusivity for the LGBTIQA+ community and has flourished into exactly that. You needn’t be a spectacular artist to attend. In fact, on the contrary, the art is secondary to the experience, which is ultimately about coming together to have a little fun, get messy and listen to some bangers from the 80s, 90s and noughties. Before you ask, yes costumes are strongly encouraged!
When we said this place was a little left of centre, we meant it. Rather than regular paint and sip sessions, the Burleigh-based studio specialises in Drag Queen Paint and Sips packed full of glitter, BYO bubbles and serious belly laughs courtesy of the studio’s cute-as-a-button resident Drag Queen, ShuShu Funtanna of Brisbane. The jokes are a little on the naughty side so if you’re one to offend easily, you might want to sit this one out. Speaking of naughty, Paint Juicy also offers steamy Sip and Stroke Sessions featuring a real-life nude male model. So, what do you need to bring? Just yourself, your tipple of choice, snacks (if you wish) as well as a sense of adventure and fun. The studio will provide all of the necessities including canvases, paint, paintbrushes, aprons, glasses, easel, tunes to groove to and platters on request. You can also hire the studio for hen’s parties, girls nights out or any occasion, really.
