Sweat more and stress less at Byron Bay’s Nimbus & Co

It's smack-bang in the middle of winter, so let's talk about body-warming activities – though (for once) we're not talking about eating piping-hot ramen noodles or sipping indulgent hot chocolates. We're talking about infrared saunas. More specifically Byron Bay's steamy new facility, Nimbus & Co.

Nimbus & Co was founded in Bondi in 2016 by nutritionist Suzanne Tuttle and her partner Neil O’Sullivan. Recently the state-of-the-art infrared sauna studio expanded north to Byron Bay, converting a warehouse in the Industrial Estate into the region’s newest wellness hub. At Nimbus & Co you’ll find two double saunas as well as a 3-4 person Yoga Sauna, along with a boutique retail space.

So, what’s the deal with these infrared saunas? Unlike traditional saunas that use convection and conduction to heat the skin’s surface, infrared saunas use slow-heating panels that emit infrared light that help your body detoxify, penetrating deep within your tissues, muscles and cells. The air in an infrared sauna is said to be a lot drier too, so it’s easier to breathe. The Nimbus & Co team recommend that a 45-minute session once a week is ideal for wellness maintenance, assisting with aches and pains, sleep, skin and immunity. If you’re working on a particular health goal like weight loss or a full-on detoxing, you can up the ante to 3-4 sessions per week. Keen to try it out? You can find more information and booking details online.
