Kowtow takes it to the water with its ethically made debut swimwear drop

It’s no secret that we have a crush on Kowtow – the New Zealand label first captured our hearts back in 2007 with its stunning range of eco-conscious apparel. Just in time for summer, the brand has launched its debut swimwear collection – and what it’s made from is sure to surprise you.

The debut Kowtow swimwear drop carries on the brand’s strong ethos of sustainability and durability, enlisting the help of Italian textile manufacturer Econyl®. If you’re not familiar with the fabric, allow us to fill you in – it’s a regenerated nylon made from pre- and post-consumer nylon waste material including fishing nets, discarded carpets, plastic components and fabric scraps. The recycling vibe doesn’t stop here, with Kowtow encouraging its customers to return their swimwear at the end of its useful life so that the brand can continue the regeneration process.

The Kowtow swimwear collection features cuts and colours for all types of bodies – classic and high-waisted briefs are combined with one pieces, bandeaus and triangle tops across colourways of midnight, ivy, sienna and marigoldThe treats don’t stop there – to celebrate the launch of its first swimwear line, Kowtow has collaborated with Mirador’s very own Lauren Cassar to create some items to accompany the drop. Lauren’s distinct abstract hand-painted designs have been splashed across two organic cotton t-shirts and a sarong. Each piece is an homage to dreamy summer days, from the warm tones to the subtle floral motifs present.

Want to add a sustainable touch to your summer? You can shop the full range of Kowtow swimwear through the brand’s website.
