Dreamy new menswear label Kerrin embodies Gold Coast beach culture

Perfect for the Gold Coast's mild winters, steamy summers and laidback lifestyle, this new label from the former head of menswear design at Country Road offers the perfect clobber for your alfresco way of life.

Kerrin was made for salty days on the beach, exploring Cedar Creek Falls or simply schlepping around the hood. Launched in December last year, the contemporary Australian menswear brand marries responsible manufacturing processes with enduring style to produce functional pieces that still look great when well travelled. The opening resort-style collection features swim shorts, t-shirts, shorts, shirts and sweats with meticulous attention to detail – think needle-loomed label tags and sustainable corozo nut buttons sourced from the tagua palm.

Pieces are designed in Melbourne and expertly crafted in Portugal from high-quality European fabrics in neutral tones. Designer/founder Kerrin Schuppan draws on his childhood memories of carefree Aussie summer days spent playing in sand dunes and catching fish, combining the relaxed holiday vibe with a design expertise honed at Central Saint Martins – University of the Arts London and London’s Royal College of Art, to create a collection tinged with sun-drenched nostalgia. Future additions will include chinos and printed shirts, as well as mid-weight layering and light-weight shell outerwear pieces. The label is currently available online and temporary locations across Melbourne, although plans are in the works for northern state pop-ups – admirers are encouraged to DM Kerrin via Instagram with location suggestions.
