Shop locally, ethically and sustainably at Burleigh’s new Heartfill Store

We all live busy lives, so it's easy to opt for convenience when it comes to making purchases – which means that online shopping, mass production and fast fashion are constantly being fuelled. Yep, it's a wild world we live in, but it sure is reassuring to know that people like Corinne Russel exist. The former school teacher is the mind behind the newly opened Heartfill Store – a one-stop retail shop built on the ethos of responsible consumerism.

Located on Lemana Lane (sharing the same laneway as the newly opened Wholly Smoke laneway eatery), Heartfill aims to change the way people make choices about consumption and in doing so, reduce landfill. After 12 years in education, Corinne Russell wanted to revitalise ‘bricks and mortar’ stores by creating a mindful, personalised approach to retail. The dreamy space is effectively a market-style shopping experience, so if you love supporting local businesses at weekend markets but don’t often get to go along, then this is for you. Under one roof you’ll find sustainable and ethical products, from flowers to homewares, clothing, art, craft and vintage pieces, all from local designers and artists.

There are a number of local creatives who already call Heartfill home, including The Sunlounge homewares, Huckleberry Flowers and Comfort and Calm ceramics, and most of what you see in store are bespoke or small-batch pieces that are made by hand. Driven by an ethos of ‘fill your heart, not the land’, Heartfill also doubles as a workshop space, encouraging people of all ages to work with their hands and hearts, through activities like painting, clay modelling, wreath making, weaving and journaling. Heartfill also offers corporate wellbeing programs and after-school creative activities for children – all so the community can reacquaint themselves with the skills of making and creating while gathering socially in a unique environment.

Heartfill’s location, contact details and opening hours can be found over in our Stumble Guide.
