The Border Social Club is here to take a look at the bright side of the barricade

If you're a Gold Coast or Northern Rivers local, there's a high chance you've been affected by the closure of the Queensland-New South Wales border. Well, friends, they say that out of difficulty ingenuity is born (we just made that up, but there's probably a similar saying) and that's exactly what has sparked the inception of The Border Social club and its brand-new t-shirts.

For all those people that have their spouses, businesses, parents and favourite coffee shops on the other side of the border, this one is for you. Border Social Club creator Nick Richards came up with this cheeky new t-shirt that’s paying tribute to those ubiquitous orange barricades that have wreaked havoc on our lives lately.

Designed during one languorous day spent at home due to the closure, these shirts are designed to draw a chuckle when laughs are currently hard to come by. No matter how long the hard border remains, these unisex shirts (available only while the border closure lasts) will forever commemorate this strange and uncomfortable time that our community was split in two by a waist-high plastic fence.

If you’re keen to support some more Coolangatta businesses that are bearing the brunt of these restrictions, head here to check out some of the area’s best restaurants.
