Apart from the fact that one blood donation alone is able to save up to three lives, Australian Red Cross Lifeblood is throwing some extra incentives into the mix to encourage people to donate the vital fluid this November. As part of the True Colours campaign, Australian Red Cross Lifeblood has partnered with six celebrated Australian artists to create limited-edition bandages for blood donors. An eclectic collection of Aussie creative icons are involved in the project including artists Ken Done, Eric Bridgeman, Kaylene Whiskey, Frances Cannon, David Booth and Vipoo Srivilasa.
Apart from snagging a sleek bandage, your blood donation will of course help save lives. The majority of blood donations help people with life-threatening cancer and blood diseases (34 percent) followed by anaemia (19 percent) and heart surgery and severe burns (18 percent). Just remember, you have to donate blood at a donor centre before November 14 if you’re keen on securing a life-saving accessory. Talk about wearing your heart on your sleeve.
