In case you’re unfamiliar with Allbirds, allow us to give you a little background – the brand is the brainchild of New Zealand native Tim Brown, a merino wool enthusiast who used his knowledge and curiosity to look into the viability of introducing this remarkable sustainable resource into the footwear industry. After linking up with engineer and renewables Joey Zwillinger, the pair created some serious waves in the shoe market with an entirely new (and sustainable) product – wool shoes. Since then, the company has been dedicated to creating more renewable solutions in the footwear market, which brings us to Sugar Zeffers.
The Allbirds Sugar Zeffers follow in the brand’s super-sustainable footsteps (heh), making use of one of Mother Nature’s most unsung heroes – sugar cane. The company utilises the material to create its SweetFoam™ shoe sole, which not only looks great but contours to the foot for cloud-like comfort. The sugarcane is all ethically sourced from southern Brazil, going into the soles that come in four different colours – choose from charcoal, wave blue, limoncello and mandarin. As if that wasn’t enough, the Sugar Zeffers also come with a mix-and-match strap (all made from eco-friendly materials, of course) so you can always keep the people guessing.
Could your feet use a little sugar? You can shop the full range of Sugar Zeffers on the Allbirds website.
