The future is now – AirShare takes ridesharing to the skies

Last week we dropped news of drone delivery and now, we bring you news of another air-related concept that proves undoubtedly that the future is here and now. Allow us to introduce AirShare, it's ridesharing but not as you know it.

Unless you’ve spent the last decade exploring the outskirts of the universe away from all civilisation, it’s pretty safe to assume you’re across the concept of ridesharing, well AirShare is here to raise the stakes – literally and figuratively. AirShare is a Brisbane-based start-up that exists to fill empty seats on scenic flights with the long-term view to expand to charter flights. Up until now, if you wanted to book a flight, chances are you had to pay for the whole thing regardless of whether you were one person or six (depending on the operator and size of the aircraft). With AirShare, you can effectively split the cost of the flight, meaning a cheaper ride for you but the operator also benefits from the increased patronage.

Since its launch in 2018, AirShare has expanded to offer flying experiences in 15 locations including Airlie BeachDarwinUluru and Perth. Eventually, AirShare’s founders Jack Buscombe and Gauranga Magriplis have grand plans to connect cities with regional areas – imagine the possibilities! Keen to check it out? The 15-minute scenic helicopter flights above Mount Coot-tha start at just $69 per person – perfect for showing out-of-town guests the city or you could be a total baller for a day and treat your special someone to a helicopter winery tour for $349 per person. Check out all of AirShare’s Brisbane experiences here.
