Airbnb Luxe dishes the most lavish lodgings your brain can barely comprehend

From the Swiss Alps to Sicily, a cluster of exorbitant castles, mansions and islands are now on offer as part of Airbnb’s latest offering.

You may find yourself using Airbnb Luxe more for Pinterest pinning than genuine holiday planning, but it can’t hurt to take a scroll through all the rentals you would stay in, if only you had a spare few thousand bucks a night. In late June, the online giant launched a new luxury experience that aims to make bespoke travel more accessible. Dedicated trip designers can plan every last detail of your getaway, from arranging private airport pick-ups to stocking your home with your favourite goodies, booking you a table at that exclusive restaurant and hooking you up with a tailored team of personal chefs, babysitters, massage therapists, personal trainers and more. They will also be available 24/7 to ensure a smooth booking, check-in and stay.

More than 2000 of the world’s most extraordinary homes are opening their (pristine, 5-star) doors to you and your mates or your brood at the time of launch. Each one is heavily vetted and must pass the Airbnb 300+ point inspection in design and function, including premium finishes, rare features, chef-grade appliances and luxury amenities. Raise a glass in Castello di Vicarello, an 11th-century castle in Tuscany, book Nukutepipi, an entire island with its own self-declared time zone in French Polynesia, or kick back and enjoy the view from the eco-architectural masterpiece Te Kahu perched on 50 acres at Lake Wanaka, New Zealand. The accommodation on offer through Airbnb Luxe is a far cry from the three airbeds founders Brian Chesky and Joe Gebbia inflated on their living room floor in San Francisco 11 years ago when Airbnb was born, but this premium-tier offering essentially carries the same ethos: to create local, magical travel moments in interesting places. Check out the luxe homes on offer here.
