A delicious haven for carnivores, Wholly Smoke specialises in slow-smoked, pulled and barbecued meats, serving lunch (Tuesday to Sunday) and dinner (Wednesday to Sunday) from its casual Miami digs. The unassuming alleyway is littered with festoon lights, timber tables, timber-palette boxes, and bar seating to fit around 50 hungry locals. Once you find it, it’s time for some big decisions – what to order.

You can opt for one-handed crusty white rolls filled with combinations like smoked brisket with cheese and horseradish cream, barbecued lamb with Swiss cheese and garlic yoghurt, and smoky barbecue pulled pork with slaw. If you can’t say no to a burger, there’s a smoked cheeseburger (single or double) with classic fillings on the menu, as well as a saucy pulled-pork variety. There’s also wings smothered in your choice of hot sauce, along with shoestring fries and salads for the side. As for the sips, it’s solely milkshakes – but those after something a little harder will be pleased to know that Wholly Smoke is BYO. Oh, and it’s BYO dogs too.
