Take a plant-based break – vegan KitKat is coming soon to your local confectionery aisle

Take a plant-based break – vegan KitKat is coming soon to your local confectionery aisle

Whilst we love to switch to plant-based alternatives where we can, getting one's hands on a vegan treat that isn't sugar-free (read: tasteless) or costs the same as our lunch proves to be a difficult task. Thankfully, the big brands are now jumping onboard the plant-based train and offering vegan versions of their beloved sweets. Enter snack-making machine Nestlé, which is finally making plant-based dreams come true with the launch of KitKat V, a vegan alternative to the OG KitKat.

Nestlé’s newest certified vegan creation KitKat V is made from 100 percent sustainably sourced cocoa, as outlined in the Nestlé Cocoa Plan in conjunction with the Rainforest Alliance. For this vegan version, the milk that’s found in the original KitKat is replaced with a rice-based alternative, which gives it the perfect balance between the crispy wafer and smooth chocolate that people know and love – and it won’t have you missing the dairy component one bit.

This new vegan variation of everyone’s favourite morning-tea delicacy will be on shelves from mid-June in the United Kingdom and in selected European countries before it flies across the ocean and lands in the confectionery aisles of Australian stores. While we wait, we are going to make a quick trip to the grocery store for a block of choccie – a Honeycomb Smash KitKat Block, perhaps?
