Thursday Brewing cracks into the Gold Coast craft-beer scene with its flagship lager

In case our name wasn't enough of a giveaway, we're all about the weekend. Generally speaking, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are full of action and hustle, then comes Thursday – and you get that faint flutter of excitement in your stomach when you realise that Friday is just one more sleep away. It's that sublime almost-Friday feeling that inspired two local mates to go out on a limb and pour their passion for the weekend into a keg. The result? The Gold Coast's newest craft-beer brand, Thursday Brewing Company, which officially launches on Monday April 30.

Mermaid Beach locals Ed Hatcher and Keegan Shaw are the brains behind Thursday Brewing, an idea which came to life when they were sitting on the couch having beers, as you do, on a Thursday night. After about a year of fine-tuning, taste testing (what a job) and contract brewing at different local breweries, the duo have perfected their first beer, the Thursday Lager, which will roll out locally in kegs and cans as of next week.

Thursday Brewing’s flagship lager is a fruity one, with the citrus flavours shining bright. Though, we’re told the sweetness isn’t overpowering – it has been crafted as a sessionable lager that anyone, from discerning craft-beer drinkers to casual beer swillers, can thoroughly enjoy sinking. The Thursday Lager will be available on tap and in tinnies at various local bars and eateries – Alfred’s Diner and Apres Surf are the first to get the new brew, with more locations to be announced over the coming weeks. Keep an eye on Thursday Brewing’s Instagram to stay up to date.
