The Crafty Cow brings smokehouse meats and all of the beer to Casuarina

Meat lovers, gird your loins. A new smokehouse has sprouted up just south of the border and you need to get acquainted. Let us introduce you to The Crafty Cow – a drool-worthy new eatery and bar, which has recently opened its doors in the quaint township of Casuarina.

If you like the sound of tender brisket, succulent ribs, saucy wings and ice-cold beer, then you’ll want to follow your nose to this meaty new hang, which quietly opened over Easter weekend. The Crafty Cow is the brainchild of two talented couples – Daniel Platt and Colette Neilson, and Jason and Jodie Daley. The passionate foursome, who hail from Brisbane, set their sights on Casuarina in search of a sea change and a prime spot to dispense their juicy, tender slow-cooked meats into the mouths of hungry southerners.

As you’d expect, the menu is heavy on the meat, featuring share plates brimming with the likes of slow-cooked cuts of beef brisket, melt-in-your-mouth pulled pork and smoked kansky, all paired with delicious sides like housemade coleslaw, beer-battered chips and crispy onion rings. Plus, you can get the delicious meats sandwiched together in slider form, if you’re that way inclined. The menu will rotate on the regular, so keep an eye out for meat-themed events like chicken-wing nights, as well as appearances by incredibly tender beef ribs, which we’re told take a lot of care and attention to get right. On the beer front, The Crafty Cow’s rad-looking rusty beer taps will alternate to feature the best from local brewers, including Balter and Black Hops, as well as suds from afar like Canberra’s well-regarded BentSpoke Brewing Co.
